Left Field Brewery Land Acknowledgement

We acknowledge that the sacred land on which we operate, and those on which many of our ingredients are grown, is the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg (Ah-nish-in-nah-beg), the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee (Ho-den-oh-sho-nee) and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. We acknowledge that alcohol has historically been used as a colonial tool to control, manipulate and marginalize Indigenous communities, repercussions of which continue to harm Indigenous people to this day. We recognize the many Nations of Indigenous People, who presently live on this land, those who have spent time here and the ancestors who have hunted and gathered on this land known as Turtle Island and value their diversity of cultural world-views, their resiliency, and their ties to their communities.

Left Field Brewery recognizes and supports the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action, applying both to our work.

Finally, we acknowledge the many people of African descent who are not settlers, but whose ancestors were forcibly displaced as part of the transatlantic slave trade, brought against their will, and made to work on these lands. We believe that advancing Indigenous sovereignty is deeply and inextricably linked to Black liberation and we remain committed to advancing both.
